Fertilisation Normal IVF fertilisation rate — 2PN and 2PB at 17 ± 1 h post-insemination, per COC inseminated: competency ≥60%, benchmark ≥75%. ICSI polyspermy rate and IVF polyspermy rate: should be <6%. 1PN rate: <5% for IVF, <3% for ICSI. The difference reflects pre-selection of oocytes before injection. Failed fertilisation rate, IVF cycles, stimulated: <5%. Cleavage Cleavage rate: competency >95%, benchmark >99%. Embryo development rate Day 2, 4-cell at 44 ± 1 h: competency ≥50%, benchmark ≥80%. Day 3, 8-cell at 68 ± 1 h: competency ≥45%, benchmark ≥70%. Blastocyst Blastocyst development rate, Day 5 at 116 ± 2 h, per normally fertilised oocyte: competency ≥40%, benchmark ≥60%. An additional 10–15% may develop by Day 6 (140 ± 2 h). Good blastocyst development rate, Day 5: competency ≥30%, benchmark ≥40%. An additional 5–15% by Day 6. PGT and cryopreservation Successful biopsy rate — DNA detected in tubed samples: competency ≥90%, benchmark ≥95%. Blastocyst cryosurvival: competency ≥90%, benchmark ≥99%. No result after amplification: benchmark <5%. What the consensus deliberately does NOT set values for: live birth rate (too many non-laboratory variables), embryo and blastocyst utilisation rates, Day 5 transfer rate, and zygote grade. Quoting benchmarks for these is going beyond the consensus. Frequency: ideally monthly.
